When a soldier dies from apparent radiation poisoning, the Atomic Energy Commission sends scientist Dr. Royston (Oscar-winner Dean Jagger) to investigate. Despite extensive testing no source can be found - until a mysterious radioactive, mud-like entity resurfaces and begins claiming more victims.
