Triumph of the Spirit is a powerfully moving boxing drama that takes place during WWII at the Auschwitz internment camp. Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man) stars as boxer Salamo Arouch, interned at the death camp with his family and friends (which include Edward James Olmos and Robert Loggia). He is forced to fight his fellow inmates to amuse the guardsāthe loser is sent to the gas chamber. Salamoās prowess in the ring is both his salvation and his nightmare, as his hollow victories condemn others to death. Still he fights on, hoping he might somehow save his fatherā¦his friendsā¦perhaps even his soul.
